Valori
A slanted blocky display typeface with opposing top and bottom heavy cuts.
Inspired by a sign spotted inside of a bar and corner store in Florence, Italy. The characters present in the sign were used as a point of reference and then expanded to a lowercase set as well as the two versions, Alto and Basso.
The referenced sign reads “Tabacchi Valori Bollati” which translates to “Stamped Tobacco Values” referring to a system in Italy where tobacco products are sold with a tax stamp (bollo), indicating that the appropriate taxes have been paid.
